Pros: Working at Epic, you are quickly given a lot of responsibility and opportunity, with very good pay for most positions. There are some really smart people working at Epic. The company tries to teach an ethical culture and to put the patient first. Some nice perks include the relaxed dress code, single or double offices, and great food. Health insurance is pretty good. The campus is pretty neat, though you spend most of your time in offices or meeting rooms. Also, they mostly hire straight out of college, so if you are young, there will be lots of people your age.

Cons: With lots of responsibility comes lots of stress and long hours. It seemed to be pretty standard practice to assign everyone more work than they could handle, so you have to do a lot of prioritization. Some management is younger and not as experienced.

Pros: Very competitive salary, very nice food and drinks, comfortable office and easy parking, lots of conferences, presentations, and guest lectures. Some members of my team were intelligent and helpful, others sabotaged my work to make themselves look better.

Cons: Obsolete technology is a problem when you interview afterwards. Very heavy workload. The technical assignments are not very challenging but are difficult and time-consuming because: * The software is very old and monolithic. * Epic uses the most complex software development cycle I have ever seen. (Going through PQA is truly a good exercise, but I spent too much time chasing pedantic issues that just ended up getting dropped.)

Pros: Good pay, good health insurance, and I got a lot of creative freedom over my projects. Most of the people there are very kind and smart. Working here will help you grow your professional skills quickly.

Cons: Management is very metric-driven, so you will get grilled if they think you are spending too long on a project, even when that is largely out of your control. The work-life balance is not great (but for software devs, not too bad) – they will constantly push you to work more hours. It's easy to get burned out, as many others have mentioned. Upper management seemed quite out of touch.
