Process

Submitted resume, got reached by HR. After asking about past experience, they flew me to Madison, WI. For the onsite interview, I wasn't able to finish the coding problems very well, and got nervous when presenting one of my past projects to their technician.

Values over lives

Software Developer • Current Employee

Madison, Wisconsin, United States

Pros: Pretty campus, and a good, cheap cafeteria.

Cons: Corporate to its core, as in they value profits over the health and lives of their employees and their families. They are requiring their 10,000+ employees to come back to work on campus, censoring coronavirus-related questions in its internal forums, and telling those without cars to take the bus (during a pandemic). Dane County has been listed by The New York Times as one of the nation's hotspots of the coronavirus. Yet they are ignoring local and federal public-health guidance to force their entire workforce to return to campus.

Good job if you like working on older technologies

Software Developer • Current Employee

Madison, Wisconsin, United States

Pros: - Great campus, and you either get an individual or shared office. - The cafeteria has lots of good options for lunch. - The salary is pretty good for a Midwest location. - Most of the coworkers are brilliant.

Cons: - As a developer, you are required to write most of your code in VB6, which is broken and outdated. - Some of the older folks can be condescending. - Too much emphasis on process to push even a small change to production, which can get frustrating. - The training is overkill.
