Process

Applied online in Apr 2019, but they did not have any slots for the Spring 2019 grads.

Later, I got a request for a phone interview. Then, I took a personality test for an unspecified reason. Subsequently, I scheduled a technical test consisting of speed math, "learning" a programming language (super weird but not difficult to follow), and standard whiteboard interview-type questions. The technical test is monitored by some outsourced group, but they only make sure you're not looking away or something, not like a live interview. Super uncomfortable, if I'm being honest.

Got an on-site interview offer within a week or two. It's two days, and everything is paid for. You can also expense all your travel costs and meals within reason, which is nice. The on-site interview is mostly "selling" you on working there, but there are a few technical questions. As a new grad, they expect you to mostly learn on the job (as I understand it). There's about an hour of one-on-one interviews, and the rest of the day is mostly telling you about what they do at Epic. Apparently, they're mostly looking for your enthusiasm for the job, so it's not that difficult.

They called me back when they promised ("early next week"). I've talked to several other people who interviewed, and the time they promise you ranges from next Monday/Tuesday to a week and a few days. I really don't know if this is because of the different hiring practices of their departments or a reflection of your success at the interview.

Honestly, though, at this point, a pile of used laundry could give me a more respectful interview process than most entry-level positions I've applied for, so I'm willing to give Epic a thumbs up just for not dragging stuff out and being transparent, even if there were a few weird spots.
