Software Developer Interview Experience - United States

Process

I applied on their website and heard back from them within a day or two, so they were really quick to contact me.

They set up a phone interview and I had to take an online assessment.

The phone interview was only 30 minutes, so it was pretty short. I talked a bit about my work history and previous coding-related projects I had worked on in the past. The interviewer seemed very nice.

The online assessment was relatively long. I had to visit a specific webpage provided to me and have my webcam on to record myself during the test. There were four sections:

  • A 2-minute, 10-question test with pretty easy problems (as long as you don't have the reading speed of a 3rd grader like me).
  • A math section, which wasn't that bad except for one weird brain teaser sort of question.
  • A section on learning a new programming language, as they slowly feed you rules about it and had you answer questions about how things would be evaluated.
  • A programming assessment with four questions to answer.

I had a time limit of 4 hours to complete everything, so it took a while.

I wasn't able to make it further into the interview process.

Questions

On a certain day, an apple costs 40 cents, a banana 60 cents, and a grapefruit 80 cents. How much does a pear cost?
