Devops Engineer Interview Experience - Gurgaon, Haryana

Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

They have a standard set of 4 interview rounds, but I'm sure they could extend this to 10 rounds to showcase their work or satisfy their egos, only to ultimately say 'no' without any reason. I was interviewed twice at Expedia within a 7-8 month span, with 5 rounds each time.

For the first interview process, it took a month, followed by another month of waiting, only to be informed via a single email that I was not selected.

For the second interview, I already held an offer and had informed HR well in advance of my expectations. Yet, the interview process was pathetic and took 1.5 months (I was on NP and delayed my joining). When the final decision came, they didn't bother to inform me that I was not selected. When I inquired, I simply received a 'no' again, with no explanation whatsoever.

I describe the entire process as confusing; they don't seem to know what they want to do – either hire or not. They keep asking for more and more interviews and do not have a particular pattern. After all interviews, they will make you wait for a month and say 'no' without any reason.

The basic issue is that if they do not have the budget to hire you, they won't tell you directly. They either have a lot of time to explore or have a keen interest in wasting candidates' time and energy. I have never encountered such a closed, opaque, and pathetic hiring process.

It's a complete waste of time and energy.

Questions

Lots of probing on behavioral questions and about personal life.

Common response: "I don't have a weakness." Can't you understand that? But the manager wants to hear that you have one. The fact of the matter is, lots of unnecessary probing, which is nowhere related to your work or JD. It's like testing facial expressions or patience of the candidate.

Pathetic manager round. Too much personal. Come on, it's just a job I am here for, not asking your daughter to marry me. Pathetic again, manager round.

Technical is somewhat fine. Questions on CI/CD, networking, LBs, hybrid scenarios, Java, application troubleshooting, Bash, etc.
