This was possibly the wildest and most disrespectful interview process I've ever experienced. A month of my life was completely wasted.
I went through an insane five-stage interview process for a role that, on paper, was very much aligned with my experience and profile. The interviews went really well, and I felt I had built up a good rapport with everyone who interviewed me. Throughout the process, the interviewers kept reinforcing what a great fit I was for the role and how my experience aligned well with its requirements (though what those requirements actually were will forever remain a mystery to me, as each interviewer seemed to have a completely different understanding of the role – very disorganized).
By the time I finished my last interview, the final interviewer was basically talking to me as if I had already been hired and would be starting shortly. It was all very encouraging, and I was very much convinced that I had the job.
Imagine my shock two days later when I received an AUTOMATIC REJECTION EMAIL from HR. For the first few minutes, I sincerely thought it was a mistake. All my subsequent attempts to get feedback from HR amounted to very little. My emails were ignored. I eventually managed to schedule a feedback call with the HR manager, but she did not turn up. Eventually, she sent me a rather rude email asking me to schedule another time. Finally, after weeks of trying, I managed to get her to join a ten-minute call where she unashamedly admitted that there was nothing wrong with my experience or interviewing. Instead, they decided to go with someone who used to work for one of their competitors. :/
So, the moral of the story is: if you don't work for one of their direct competitors, don't bother applying, I guess. What a shockingly disappointing experience.
