Expedia – this is a sincere request from a new graduate.
You must first recruit some good HR professionals who are at least professional enough to reply to our emails. The HR personnel I encountered did not seem to care, never picked up their phones, and never replied.
I had an accident just before I received an onsite interview call. I tried every possible way to reach out to my HR representative to ask if she could schedule me for the next onsite event or the 2018 onsite venue. But, she was apparently busy updating her Instagram and Twitter (I am serious!). Unfortunately, I had no other option but to attend my onsite with my injury. (Yes! A new graduate cannot miss an opportunity, especially when you don't have a job).
I got a call from a referral (a senior from my college who joined the company a few months back in 2017). They asked two easy-to-medium HackerRank questions. The next round was onsite.
The onsite consisted of three rounds: two technical and one HR. I was genuinely surprised with the technical interviewers. They were given the solutions to the problems they asked us and expected us to provide the same (or something close) to their solutions. Who does that? A question can be solved in many different ways. One of the technical rounds was system design. The HR round was fine.
The thing I disliked the most was that the interviewers seemed to lack sufficient interviewing experience. They themselves appeared confused and were looking for the solutions.
And yes, there was no transparency in the whole process. A person who had referred us was interviewing my fellow classmates/collegemates! Are you guys kidding me? How can you let that person interview us, someone who referred us! Later, I learned that almost everyone knew the questions before the interview!
This was the worst experience to date. I will NEVER EVER and EVER apply to this company again.
