I interviewed for an SDE 3 role at Expedia and, unfortunately, was completely ghosted even after following up for feedback. The interview itself felt frustrating and unstructured. The interviewer didn’t seem very experienced, and the questions were very low-level SQL, completely unrelated to the responsibilities of an SDE 3 position.

I was expected to recall exact SQL syntax despite not having written queries in years—something more appropriate for a beginner-level role.

Compared to FAANG companies I’ve interviewed with, like Google and Meta, which provide detailed feedback and structured interviews, this experience felt like a waste of time. Overall, I left the process feeling disappointed and undervalued as a candidate.
