Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

Applied through a college career fair.

  1. One simple question was asked immediately at the career fair: "How can you find the common element of two linked lists?"

  2. I was contacted by a recruiter within a week and scheduled a phone interview. The interview included:

    • Short questions about my resume
    • A simple coding question (I apologize, I forgot it)
    • "What is a generic and its advantage?"

They wanted to check if there was any hiring in the Data Warehousing team, as I have a strong machine learning background. However, it turned out there were no opportunities in data teams, so they scheduled one more interview for a developer position.

  1. One more phone interview followed:
    • Discussed a challenging project.
    • "Given input lists A and B, return non-common items from each list."
    • Follow-up: "Design test cases."

Questions

Overall, the coding problems were easy.
