It depends which group you work for; that will decide your work-life balance.
People are promoted to people manager roles even when they are not qualified for that role. This can make your life hell if the manager turns out to be a non-qualified professional.
Start 'psychometric test' before promoting or hiring managers for people management roles. Their incapability and selfishness cause good talent to leave the organization. They are a big hurdle as they like people who move on their fingertips, not based on their talent. The problem is very severe; the company needs to take note of it.
