Pros

More than enough PTO (23 days + 5 days COVID/family relief time). Deadlines are reasonable for epics and sprints, with low stress to get work done on time. Pay is pretty good for the RDU metro area.

Cons

Stuck on Java as the primary language. The reasoning for that is legacy code integrates more easily, and they know they can hire for Java. Recent graduates like myself probably don't like using it as much as Python, Go, etc.

Slow to lay out concrete details for return to office.

Advice to Management

Keep pay raises at above inflation, and the workforce will be happy.

Find out ways to integrate other programming languages into the backend stack.

Be clear about RTO policy sooner rather than later.
