I had a short conversation with the recruiter, followed by a two-hour technical interview. We briefly discussed a project I led at my previous company before moving on to the coding portion, which included two tasks. Following that, there was a system design question.
From my point of view, I had a really good interview. The technical part went as smoothly as possible, as the questions were easy and common in the industry. Yet, somehow, I still didn't pass the interview, which was quite a shock to me. I have some experience and have interviewed in various places, and I believe I can tell when an interview is going well.
I received a generic email stating that I was rejected. I think the recruiter could have spent two minutes talking to me after I interviewed for two hours to provide some feedback.
In the end, I reached out to the recruiter on my own to get some feedback. The feedback I received was "technical gap." This was not very informative.
