One of the worst interview experiences. I think interviews largely depend on the people you talk to. If you talk with a good engineer, you will expect a good experience, even if you cannot solve the problem they gave. But if you meet one of their worst employees, you will end up wasting your time. This is one of the experiences I encountered with Flexport.
The phone technical interview was with a "mental" guy. He gave me a very ambiguous question. As a tech person, everyone knows that if an ambiguous interview question is thrown at you, you should ask as many clarifying questions as possible. But this dude was terrible. Not only did he try not to answer my questions with "sure, okay, whatever," but he also didn't even know what he himself was doing. He lost himself the entire interview. Very stupid, I would say. A waste of time, and a waste of your company's reputation.
This was a coding design question. I highly believe the interviewer himself did not know what he was asking, because he said so many times throughout the interview, "Sorry, I was thinking about something else."
