Pros: The people at the working level are great (95% of them at least).
It is possible to move within the company, but you have to network within the company yourself and find the people manager that will pull you into the position you want.
Benefits:
* 401k matching (up to 6% of your paycheck)
* Many people leaders are flexible with time off (HR may give you 15 days, but you can work longer hours to get more for example)
* Federal holidays are off (not all of them, but most) and the entire week between Christmas and New Years
* 3 paid days a year to volunteer
* Many organizations or clubs within the company (help people network, recruiting at many universities, rock climbing, soccer, etc.)
* Tuition assistance (up to $6,500 a year; some groups will fully fund an MBA)
They're building a new headquarters that will be nice.
Remote work is accepted (since COVID) but is job dependent.
Cons: Product development in new programs has been chaotic, which causes lots of added stress.
There are cycles of layoffs, which can be scary. Generally, it's the contracted workers who get let go first, then the direct hires. So be aware of that.
I've had seven different people managers in the six years that I've been in the organization, which has stifled career and wage growth (just my experience, maybe not common).
Pay is below average for the market, but if you have a good supervisor, you should be able to get raises pretty quickly.
Initial vacation days when I started was 10 a year. I'm not sure if that's changed, but that's below the status quo these days.
