The job changed from Feature Validation to Data Engineering (which is not what I signed up for). I don't mind the challenge, and I have some background in it. However, the organization and team made abrupt changes after my first couple of months on the job without any feedback or asking how comfortable I felt.
Uncertainty is always a stressful thing. Automotive is a very up-and-down (volatile) industry. When it's up, it's great. However, when it's down, layoffs and people losing work is an unfortunate reality.
The people are great to work with. Everyone is supportive and tries their best to help one another from my experience. I have the utmost respect for them. The people are not the issue. My bosses were very supportive when I worked under them.
Ford didn't have a clear direction it seemed where it was going, as they hired a lot of salary folks in 2022, I noticed. A year later, in mid-2023, came mass layoffs, and I was affected, as many others were. If they plan to let go of people within a year, why hire that much, very suddenly with no warnings? We are all people, end of the day, trying to do our best.
