Challenging work, especially with new vehicle programs. The opportunity to engineer something that is seen by everyday people is very rewarding. Every time that I get in a car and drive, I see the product of my professional efforts. Occasionally, you hear of stories of where you made a difference. There was a YouTube video of a horrific accident somewhere out west. The vehicle was one I worked on, and I could see that the parts I designed held up and possibly saved lives.
The company has been shrinking for years. Demotions are more common than promotions, and the jobs are very vulnerable, especially if you have low seniority and have moved up quickly.
