Based on the Detroit Free Press on Feb. 23, 2015, Ford generates $995 profit per vehicle, whereas GM generates $650 per vehicle. Ford has fewer salaried employees than GM. However, Ford distributes half the annual bonuses to salaried employees that GM distributes. Ford is a stingy company. Ford is generous only to the UAW and upper management. That is why only average Joe engineers stay at Ford.
