Pros
  1. Good work-life balance.
  2. Good pay for new graduates.
  3. Most of the colleagues are helpful.
  4. Lots of teams have team lunches and flexible work schedules.
  5. Benefits are okay.
Cons
  1. Many managers are not qualified to be managers. They have zero leadership and communication skills.
  2. Getting promoted after doing exceptional work is still minimal, as managers take the credit to promote themselves.
  3. Managers are just program managers without any knowledge of the component they are working on.
  4. Too many processes and documentation are required, rather than concentrating on customer experience.
  5. Outdated systems, e.g., WERS.
  6. GSR’s bonus is a joke.
  7. Many times, things are done because the manager wants it his/her way, even though it is clearly not ideal. Everyone is expected to follow without questioning.

Ford is not for someone who wants to grow into a management/leadership position through merit. It is only achieved by the amount of time you are at Ford.

Advice to Management

Please review the qualifications of the managers, LL6, LL5, and LL4. Demote the managers who have inadequate communications, leadership, and team player skills.

Instill leadership is not just to tell the engineers what they have to do; rather, listen to engineers for what needs to be done to excel.

Improve supplier relationships; treat them as partners.
