The Speed of Ford is rather slow, so the job is pretty chill

Pros

A pretty decent mix of experienced and fresh developers.

The pace of projects tends to be glacial at Ford, because of how much bureaucracy there is in communicating through the chain of PMs between you and the end user. There were times it took over a week to get a yes/no answer, so you never feel rushed.

The work was alright, and the company treats its developers well.

Cons

As much as the pace is a benefit in some ways, it's also the reason I left.

There were times I felt I was spending so much time waiting on the OK to proceed that even the skills I was using were getting rusty.

Advice to Management

Let the developers and end users interact directly, at their discretion. Many requests for clarification don't need the involvement of a dev PM, central PM, and end user PM, just to relay a question back and forth. You have internal DM capabilities; let your employees use it.
