As an engineer, you want your challenges to be technology-related. Trying to figure out the most efficient way to return data or the fastest way to do something.
However, at Ford, you will not be doing this. Your challenges will be surrounded around getting around the bureaucracy that cripples this company from leading in automobile technology.
The company talks about moving fast, but has so many requirements that it would be impossible to launch a software product any faster than three months because of all the requests that need to be filled out. Additionally, architecture still works in their dinosaur ways, even though we're using new cloud technologies.
If you're going to manage a software delivery team, you should probably have experience delivering software or at least become up-to-date with agile methodology.
Quit giving us a list of items saying everything is high priority and giving us deadlines. This is Waterfall methodology, and it's proven to be prone to missing deadlines and does not deliver effectively.
Give us prioritized items so we can deliver each prioritized item in a timely manner.
The interview process at Ford involved three rounds, starting with an initial HR call where I was asked about my background and resume. Within a week, I moved to the first technical round with an engineer from Ford. It was a very interactive session
Very easy and straightforward. Recruiters were very helpful. Amazing atmosphere. I applied through LinkedIn and heard back two months later for the first round interview. From there, I took the technical interview and was offered a job shortly after
Full Stack is Angular + Spring Boot, usually. I was asked technical questions about how Angular components communicate, how Spring Boot APIs handle requests, and how to handle Git pull conflicts, etc.
