First, I got a message on LinkedIn from a geiko recruiter. I liked the role, and she asked me to apply for it. I applied on Jan 12, 2024.
First round, she set a call with the hiring manager. She spoke to me about the project and the reason for hiring. All looked good. She said, "We'll move you to the next round."
The second round was a coding interview. My interviewer didn't bother to turn on his camera. While I was introducing myself, I started talking on the phone. I stopped; he said, "Continue." I forgot to put myself on mute. Then he gave me a coding question to solve and left. He told me to continue and said if I needed anything, I could speak with him. He would be around only. No discussion about the problem; I was solving alone for one and a half hours. When time was up, he came, took the screenshot of the code, and left.
After 5 days, I got a call saying that they wanted to move me to a new role. I was okay with that, and they said I would have to appear for another coding round. I said that's okay but need to push fast. They arranged for a call; the interview went fine. But then the recruiter ghosted me. I took follow-ups for 3 weeks but got no reply. Then I got a call saying the company was changing a few strategies internally and they had put a hold on hiring. But now we can proceed further.
The next round was a systems design round. The call went fine. I got a call the next day that they would conduct the next round. But then they were not able to find people within their team to schedule the call with. After follow-ups for 2 weeks, they scheduled a call with 2 people for a final round. The call went fine, and now I have been ghosted by the recruiter again. The only reply I got is the hiring manager has left the company, and the recruiter is trying to get in touch with senior management for an update about hiring. It's April now; I have wasted 3 months of my time interviewing for this ill-managed company.
No clarity on what they want, no feedback, no reply on follow-ups. It has been a pathetic experience till now interviewing for this company. There can't be anything worse than Gieko. The people, the process, everything is pathetic. Stay away from this company.
