Process

A lot of steps due to the position details being new for the company:

  • Initial screening call (half hour)
  • Hiring manager interview (one hour) - Also included a coding exercise, but very low pressure.
  • Coding exercise (one hour) - I was allowed to look up syntax questions.
  • Four one-hour interviews with team members and people in testing (no panel)
  • About 40 minutes with a VP of engineering
  • 30 minutes with the hiring manager (again)

Entire process took about a month. Actually moved pretty quickly, except when the recruiter I was working with left mid-process. That caused a delay of a few days.

Overall, a very positive process. The people I met with knew a lot about testing (the specific skill they were looking for). There was some duplication of information across sessions, making me wonder if a panel would have improved things, but some amount of that always happens.

Offer was in line with industry standards. Did set the table a bit on expectations before it was extended. Also came with a signing bonus.
