Lots of great projects to work on. Tons of responsibilities are given to co-ops, making this a very rewarding job.
Feedback sessions are done during the rotation so you know how to improve and such.
Appliance Park is a really cool facility to work in. Combined with the projects and the big name, this co-op is a great resume booster.
Co-op community is fantastic! With such a large company employing so many co-ops, you can find tons of new friends to do things with and explore the city.
Some interns won't get as many projects to work on. For them, it's an easier semester but less interesting.
Like at many large companies, everyone at GE is trying to make their boss happy, even if it means cutting corners. Managers don't have much time for those under them. That said, most of the people at the company, including the managers, were nice people and pleasant to work with.
Some co-ops may work long hours, although the company is trying to cut back on this. Overtime is compensated, so this isn't necessarily a con.
GE Appliances was purchased by Electrolux. Lots of things are in flux, but as for internships, most of it doesn't matter.
Don't cut back on the co-op program, but do keep the co-ops engaged. My friends and I did a lot of great work that the company definitely benefited from. Plus, co-ops are a great hiring pool in general.
Tell me about yourself, and several technical questions related to my major and projects. They peppered me with specifics, but were extremely professional about it. The interview took around 20 minutes.
The interview consisted of 5 behavioral questions (tell me a time when...). It is clear when you walk in the door whether you are being seriously considered as a candidate.
The interview process went very smoothly. I was asked some basic questions at first and introduced myself. I was then asked some situational type questions. The interview was around an hour long.
