Very little politics at the engineer level. At times, some amazing resources can be brought to bear on a problem.
Bureaucracy can be nearly impervious at times. Sometimes it may take months to get simple agreements signed.
Contrary to popular belief, management should have some familiarity with the technology their team is working on.
