Pros

Flexible work arrangements, competitive salary, nice and educated people.

Cons

Managers do not have solid soft skills. Most of them are engineers trying to lead other people. They have a lack of vision and mission. Meritocracy does not work; it seems exposure and image are sometimes much more important than solid and sustainable performance.

Advice to Management

Educate your managers, especially top-level ones, to have a long-term vision. Take that into account when promoting and supporting your individual contributors' career and growth plans.

Exposure and image are nice, but they will not solve the real issues most of the time. If you continue underestimating most of the people who do the hard work, you will banish them without even noticing it.
