Pros

It's a good place to work. There is a lot of flexibility in terms of timing. You don't have to clock in or clock out. It is manager dependent, but you also have flexibility with working from home if required.

There is a lot of ownership for the work being done. Value product lines are mostly entirely owned by India teams, and it gives the unique experience of seeing the end-to-end of the product, right from building to it going into the market.

As a mechanical engineer, you have to put on multiple hats. It is not just limited to design, but you also get to interact with suppliers, work on costing, design for manufacturing, and ensure the line runs smoothly. You interact across cross-functional teams and work to deliver the best product for the customer.

Cons

The growth is very slow. The work culture is team dependent. Depending on the role you have and the team you work for, it can get hectic sometimes.

Advice to Management

GE has a lot of workers with 10 to 15+ years of experience, which makes it difficult for teams to collectively pursue new ideas. This makes things stagnant after a while. Management should promote employees to come up with new ideas and give them time and resources to work on those, and see the magic happen.
