Pros

They invest in people and offer a lot of self-development programs/workshops that help employees improve.

The employees and community are awesome. They have great personal values and strive far. I feel very comfortable asking for help from others.

As an intern, they pay for housing or give a housing stipend. We get to stay in Penn State dorms together, so it was really fun being close to all the interns in the summer.

There is a sense of community. There is a lot of volunteering going on.

There are several committees for the interns:

  • Social
  • Community service
  • Professional

GE Transportation is moving towards the digital industrial realm.

Cons

GE Transportation's products are quite outdated, so it's difficult for innovation.

The internship experience from interns is a hit or miss. Some love their challenging roles, and others don't have anything to do.

Advice to Management

Continue with the professional development workshops. I think the intern role assignments can be done better so that every intern will have the best experience over the summer. I also think it's great that GE Transportation is moving towards the more digital side.
