Entry Level Engineer Rotational Interview Experience - Detroit, Michigan

Process

I applied for a bunch of jobs that fit my skills for entry-level rotational positions, at least 10.

I got rejected for stuff kind of at random. I got from review to screen for 4 of the jobs. Then I got selected to do a HireVue. They had me record STAR answers and then play some games.

After was an HR screening on the phone. Then I had a 2-hour final interview, which was 2 rounds of STAR questions.

From then on, they offered me two jobs verbally and I got to choose which one I liked best. My final round was the first time meeting an actual engineer there, but they were honestly all so great.

One thing I will say is that they took their sweet time. I was their top candidate, but I still applied first in July (HireVue immediately), did my second round in August, and got my offer in October.

I did not do campus hire since they didn't recruit at my school; I applied on the website. That could be a factor in how slow it took.

My advice? Be patient, they are GM and can take as long as they want. The offer will be worth it. It was 10 grand over my other offers at least.

Also prepare STAR answers and have a filled resume.

Questions

The HireVue and HR screening were all situational.

What was a time you worked on a project and encountered difficulty?

The final round was situational but all based off a GM core value. So if you get that far, know them by heart!
