It was great until AI was forced into everything
Lots of great people still work here. There are lots of interesting problems. Benefits are great.
AI has consumed the whole company and it's only going to get worse. If it's not AI related it's underfunded. Beyond AI being injected into the product everywhere, it's also being pressured into internal tooling and developer workflows some of which are dubious use cases at best.
Invest in the core features that are the reason people actually use GitHub.
