Really transparent and trust their employees
I joined a few months ago and have really enjoyed it so far. I knew exactly what to expect when joining, since everything about the way GitLab works is available on the public handbook.
Once I joined, I confirmed that they do take their values seriously and I was trusted to do my work the best way that works for me. At the same time, I had support along the way with any issues that could come up.
None that I can think of yet.
