Generally good benefits. Offers ESPP. Working hour flexibility - fully remote. Great co-workers. Converging towards less trust and more control.
- Compensation is good, but could be better.
- Problems with location integration, for example, tax filings and a health plan that doesn’t compensate Denmark’s governmental health plan well.
- Very feature- and deadline-focused.
- Not enough dedication to paying down technical debt.

GitLab Interview Experiences
Software Engineer
Pretty straightforward interview, which is on their handbook. Initial screening, then reviewing a merge request. Technical was with the hiring manager, which is a mix of technical and behavioral. Practice more STAR format questions for this stage.

The interview began with an HR round where I was asked about my previous experiences, my motivation for joining GitLab, and an example of a time when I demonstrated creativity in solving a problem.
