Interview Rounds:
6th Round (HM):
The Hiring Manager asked why I had changed two companies, with two years of experience in each. He automatically assumed I would leave Goldman Sachs in two years. The interview went downhill from there. A system design question was asked to be answered in 15 minutes (system design was already asked in previous rounds). When I presented him a working system within the limited time, he said, "I was expecting to see what trade-offs you will make." Surely he could design such a system in 15 minutes with all trade-offs covered (why are you even hiring people with system design skills if you can make such systems yourself in 15 minutes?). He was 2 minutes late to the interview and, towards the end, when he had made up his mind to reject me, was a little rude to cut me off and say, "You have 2 minutes to ask me any questions."
Make sure you practice mind reading for the Hiring Manager round.
