Site Reliability Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

The interview process was absolutely horrendous!

I had two different recruiters because one quit without notifying me. I then had two interviews with "VPs."

Let's get one thing straight: a "VP" at Goldman Sachs is not impressive. These "VPs" in engineering are not the real VPs you would see at a tech company. The "VP" is simply a title given within banking terminology, and there are still six to eight people in charge of you.

The first interview focused on my skillset. The second interview was a Coderpad challenge about arrays, which had nothing to do with the position itself.

The final interview was "supposed" to be five hours. However, during the interview, these "professionals" cut me off (I'm pretty sure if they're reading this, they might know who I am, but I don't care).

The final interview was with four individuals: two VPs and two developers. The developers were insulting, asking me to explain CI/CD as if I were speaking with a grandma.

Honestly, I know for a fact I did very well! They asked me to design something like Twitter, discuss architecture, vertical vs. horizontal scaling, and more.

I'm glad they cut me off mid-interview. I am 100% positive they were threatened by me, which is why they were jerks.
