Process

The process was about 4 weeks long. I applied through an Employee Referral at Goldman Sachs. It was basically two CoderPad interviews, followed by one final interview.

Because of the pandemic, the final rounds were virtual online video interviews, lasting about 2 hours.

  • CoderPad Round 1: Two questions with some follow-up questions.
  • CoderPad Round 2: One question and a few behavioral questions.
  • Final Round: Whiteboarding with 3-4 coding questions. Please take your time to review and understand the questions. Lastly, the session wrapped up with questions about the work culture and tools and technologies used.

Questions

Codepad Questions:

  1. Implement a Deque with some follow-up on optimization (solved with Doubly Linked List).
  2. Given names and grades of students, print the name along with the maximum average score. Hint: Similar to LeetCode's "High Five" problem, but you need to print the highest average score. Can be solved using a hashmap and taking running sums along with counts.
  3. (Don't exactly remember) Given a named tuple with intervals and prices, print the lowest price between the intervals, based on the start and end time. I used heapq for this implementation.

Final Rounds:

(LeetCode)

  • Coin Change with some modifications.
  • Subarrays with K Different Integers (variation).
  • Decode Ways (variation).
