Surrounded by very interesting ML problems in Finance and really smart people around you
Interesting work. Smart colleagues. Empathetic managers.
Management needs to figure out how they want to proceed. Not every interesting problem can be solved end to end. Solving problems incrementally and adding immediate advantage to users is the way to go.
Better to have a mix of both research and active product development rather than trying to commercialize immediately into a product. Also, research is a long game and requires multi-year effort, not short sprints.
We need to work on re-evaluating the compensations of ML Researchers/Engineers versus SDEs.
