Engineering Resident Interview Experience

Process

The interview process was overall very positive.

There were 4 interviews in total:

  • The first was a phone interview.
  • The second and third were back-to-back interviews, also on the phone.
  • The fourth was a Google Hangouts video interview.

All interviews were technical, except for the last one, which had a bit of a behavioral component.

The entire process took about 3 months. It could have been faster, but the company was flexible enough to give me time to prepare before my interviews, so I spread them out a little.

I highly recommend LeetCode for practicing the types of questions that are most common in these interviews.

Questions

Design Question: Given an Iterator of Iterators.

Design next() and hasNext() functions so that the next() function returns the next element from the next iterator and hasNext() returns whether or not the next iterator has any elements.

A question similar to the h-index question on LeetCode.
