Google Engineering Practicum Interview Experience

Process

There were two back-to-back, hour-long technical code interviews over the phone.

My first interviewer was over fifteen minutes late and jumped straight into the question. He sounded bored and annoyed the entire time. I asked a clarification question right away, and he answered it incorrectly. He later became annoyed and gave me a "hint" to do the thing I had already asked if I could do.

I could not hear what he was saying. I was expected to think aloud, but everything I said echoed back to me two seconds later due to a lag in the connection. There was horrible static in all the audio. I was simply using my phone, as suggested, which typically works just fine.

For the second interview, I felt incredibly stressed after the first one, but the second interviewer was much better.
