I was contacted by a recruiter regarding a hardware engineering position. When I arrived for the interview, I was informed that it was actually a different job than the one described in the job description. That discrepancy didn't matter much, however, as the interviewer didn't ask completely relevant questions for the actual position. This was frustrating since I am more than qualified for the "real" job. Their loss!
I truly feel the interviewer didn't understand my background, which ultimately hurt my chances. It's important to ensure the interviewer understands your background early in the interview to help set their expectations.
Even though I didn't get past the phone screen, I do appreciate their very clear-cut process. The recruiter laid it out well.
