Process

The process took about two months.

Three algorithm interviews were completed on a shared Google Doc, one every two weeks. The fourth interview was a technical interview conducted via Google Hangout.

I was told there would be no onsite interview at all, had I passed all four. I did not pass the last one.

Overall, the interview experience was much more relaxing than I'd expect from Google. The interviewers were very polite and not intimidating at all.

Questions

I can't give the exact questions, but I can offer some tips on what you should know:

  • Array Algorithms: Perform basic array algorithms in linear time. Essentially, solve questions without nested loops; these questions were relatively easy.
  • Graph Traversal: Know when and how to perform Depth-First Search (DFS) and/or Breadth-First Search (BFS) traversal. I didn't achieve the optimal solution, but my solutions using these were accepted. These were more of a medium challenge.
  • Class Design: Understand class design. This question wasn't difficult, but it threw me off the most because I was expecting a more algorithm-based question.
