Senior Test Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California

Process

The interview process involved recruiter screening, followed by five on-site rounds.

I did not undergo the technical screening before the on-site interviews because I reached the team match phase three years ago.

I received an offer from the Pixel team, but the hiring manager rescinded it last minute.

This was due to:

  • Asking too many questions about Pixel's product positioning and how they planned to improve their market share.
  • Expressing too much passion for targeting different markets and suggesting a few product feature ideas.
  • Honestly expressing that I might switch to a product manager role in a few years.

I suspect the hiring manager only wanted to hire someone content with the test engineering scope of work.
