I got in with a referral for a coding interview.
It was about a LeetCode medium question. It took a bit, but I was able to arrive at and code an optimal solution.
About a week later, after following up, I was rejected with zero feedback on what I did wrong.
In my view, LeetCode interviews are the worst way to determine capability from one question in 45 minutes.

Pros: Love the people, the free food, and the prestige of saying "I work at Google."
Cons: Everyone is pushed super hard now. They are trying to get new features out as fast as possible to stay competitive. There's more pressure and less perks.

The slow slide into hell

Pros: Still many intelligent people to learn from and work with. Fundamentals in many ways are still good, and teams usually have enough independence to insulate them from the ever-worsening behavior of leadership.
Cons: Increasingly failing to live up to its mission, increasingly failing to protect its employees, increasingly acting in retaliatory ways toward employees. Things continue to be "okay," but recent changes have really shown there is no backstop on screwing over employees, doing evil in the world, failing to innovate in favor of trend chasing, chipping away at benefits, etc.

Cons: I've really seen the company decline over my time at Google. It used to be one of the best places to work. Now it has below-average comp, poor culture and worker morale, and out-of-touch leadership.
