It was not a pleasant experience. Starting with an email from an India-based recruiter for the first round, I requested a call to understand more about the process. He bluntly refused, stating he had already shared an interview preparation guide and that there was no point in a call as they had hundreds of applicants. I was literally shocked, as I already earn more than their average salary. Seeing the recruiter's attitude, I considered withdrawing from the interview process, but as I was well-prepared, I decided to proceed with the first round.
The interviewer was good. I solved both questions in 40 minutes. In the second question, I was a little stuck as the interviewer wanted me to use the solution from the first question, but I was missing the trick. Even though I solved the second question with a different approach, he kept insisting I use the first one. In the end, with a small hint from him, I solved it using the approach he desired.
Now, the recruiter set up a meeting to discuss feedback. Before that, he asked me to share my feedback on the interview, how I felt, and my perceived performance. I replied accordingly. Then, on the meeting call, he again asked for my feedback from my perspective. I reiterated that since I solved both problems, I really didn't know. He then stated the feedback was negative without providing any proper reason. He kept saying how this interview process could bring out the best in me and help me in my current job. He was trying to justify the importance of their time and tried to make me realize I am not a Googler. I am really disappointed with the way he handled the whole process. He should have informed me via email and then set up a call if both of us wanted it. It was a literal waste of time, especially since he initially didn't want to invest any of his time.
