I applied for the job on Google's website. It's a software engineer role in Taiwan.
I received a phone interview invitation within a week. It wasn't quite an interview, but more of a job description to help me understand the role and the team. The recruiter then scheduled the second interview.
The second phone interview was a technical interview. The interviewer was the recruiter who approached me. He asked me basic CS fundamental questions, such as the time complexity of sorting algorithms and OOP. It was a 20-minute phone call.
The next interview was a whiteboard coding interview. The interviewer was an engineer from Hong Kong. He asked me to introduce myself first and then write plain code to solve a problem. After the coding part, he asked if I had any questions.
The recruiter scheduled a phone call to inform me about how the coding interview went and whether I would proceed to the next stage. Unfortunately, I didn't do well.
Phone Interview: Basic CS fundamental questions, such as the time complexity of a sorting algorithm and OO.
Coding Interview: Something about processing an array. It wasn't difficult, but I didn't consider the edge cases initially, so the interviewer had to give hints. It took 40 minutes to solve. I believe you need to solve at least two problems to pass the coding interview.
