Process

The LA Google office is not quite the same as the Mountain View, CA location. It is a satellite office with very few "Google-ish" perks.

Most of the people associated with the interview were incredibly nice, although I did encounter one or two snobbish individuals.

The interview is extremely technical, requiring candidates to hand-write programs to solve various problems. Personally, I found writing code by pen to be extremely awkward, laborious, and unnatural. They seemed to find my reaction strange, and it negatively impacted my interview.

They ask you to write computer science programs to accomplish various tasks. Most were interesting and fun, although a couple were downright weird. They observe your process and comment if you go astray. I would have greatly appreciated having a laptop to type on!

Overall, they stated that I performed adequately, but there wasn't a strong technical match between their current projects and my skills.
