Applied for a Software Engineer position at Google's website, and then got contacted by a recruiter a few days later to set up a technical phone screen. After that, had 5 onsite interviews at Google's Mountain View office. Interviews were not that difficult. Unlike companies like Amazon, where the focus is more on algorithms and data structures, more focus was on system design.
