Process

The interview process began with a phone screening, followed by an onsite interview. The onsite included four technical interviews. One of my interviewers did not show up, so that interview was rescheduled afterwards via video chat.

After passing the "hiring committee" review, I spoke with three hiring managers on different teams. These discussions were to learn more about their teams and for them to interview me for their specific team. These interviews were non-technical and relatively relaxed.

Once I matched with a specific team, they extended an offer.

The entire process felt somewhat slow and bureaucratic, which is understandable for a large company. However, the recruiter I worked with was very nice and helpful.

Questions

You have a 2D array of 0s and 1s. You want to eliminate the "islands," which are contiguous areas of 1s (touching by left/right/up/down) that are not anchored to the edges of the array. Provide code, then find the time and space complexity.
