The overall process took 2 months because I asked for an expedited process. It felt longer than 2 months.
I started the process on the first week of March 2018. The first stage included two coding samples, completed within 2 hours. These coding samples were quite challenging; I personally thought they were harder than the rest of the interview.
I had a phone interview on the fourth week of March, where two questions were given within an hour.
My on-site interview was at Mountain View, CA, during the first week of April. The on-site day consisted of three interviews, lunch, and one final interview.
I heard back from the on-site interview after two weeks, confirming I had passed the hiring committee. I was then asked to fill out a form requesting my preferences and experiences. Within a week, I was aligned with a product area, and they assigned me to one I had listed on the form.
After being assigned to a product area, I was approved by the leaders and received an offer a week later.
Recruiters were helpful and easily reachable. Google provided everything quite well during my interview travels, covering all food, hotel, and even renting a car. I was genuinely excited to fly to the Mountain View office.
Interviewers were very nice and not intimidating at all. They made an effort to make me feel relaxed during the initial minutes of the interview.
It was a rewarding, yet stressful, experience. Patience with the process is essential. Communicate with your recruiter if you need to expedite your process; they truly try hard to accelerate things!
NDA. You have to write code (not pseudocode) on a whiteboard.
I studied using LeetCode and GeeksforGeeks. Make sure you know your data structures and famous algorithms. Practice your recursion. Have a good night's sleep the night before your interview.
2 coding samples 1 phone interview (I had 2 questions) 4 on-site interviews (one question each, but I was asked to improve my solution)
