Applied directly on Google Jobs and a recruiter contacted me to set up a phone interview. The recruiter was very helpful in explaining the process.

The phone interview lasted for 45 minutes. The interviewer asked me to write a program for one question, how I would solve the problem, and for its run time. Then, they asked me to write the code for the same in a shared document.

Given a word with extensions, find the original word by checking if it exists in a provided dictionary.

An extension is defined as a continuous repetition of a character three or more times.

You should replace the extension characters with either one or two characters to get the intended word and then check it against the given dictionary.

Example: Wellllllcoooooomeeee --> Wellcoomee welcome wellcomee etc.
