Pros: 1. Relatively good salary and company-wide benefits. Although not exceptional anymore. 2. Good job stability so far. 3. Good work/life balance.

Cons: 1. Authoritarian low-level management. Management in Google is an Asian, Chinese-style. Your leads, not even managers, have complete power over you but no accountability. You are not working with them; you can only obey them. 2. No respect to engineering work. When I told my new manager that I prefer more engineering-type work, she promptly suggested I should leave the company. They need facilitators. 3. No diversity. Google is dominated by Chinese now. Our team of 13 hired 5 people, all Chinese. Now we have only 3 non-Chinese members out of 18 people. Probably, issue #1 stems from there.

Pros: Great people to work with.

Cons: Nothing during the couple of years I spent there.

Pros: Smart people, great perks, and proud to be working with the greatest company in the world for now. Good life/work balance in general.

Cons: It is hard to get high-impact work approved and done. Sometimes too much re-organization and too little long-term vision can hurt an organization of substantial size. Mid-management is usually the weak link in the system, constraining innovation, vision, and productivity. The promotion system is kind of broken. We have managers and senior people on the team who made bad decisions about a product, but still got promoted at the exact same time the project was canceled. This just confused everybody about whether promotion has anything to do with people's work.
