Process

Application & Recruiter Call

I applied directly through the Google careers portal. A recruiter reached out after a few weeks to schedule an initial screening call. The call covered general background, resume highlights, and role expectations.

Online Assessment

I was given a 90-minute online coding assessment consisting of two medium-level algorithmic problems. It was conducted on Google's internal platform, and I was allowed to use any language.

Technical Phone Interview

After passing the OA, I had a 45-minute technical interview via Google Meet. I was asked one medium-hard algorithm/data structures question and coded live in a shared Google Doc while explaining my thought process.

Onsite (Virtual)

I progressed to a virtual onsite with three rounds:

  • Data Structures & Algorithms: Focused on problem-solving using arrays, graphs, or strings.
  • System Design (SWE I version): More of a high-level design discussion for a small system or feature.
  • Behavioral ("Googliness"): Questions about past projects, teamwork, and how I approach ambiguity or conflict.
